Seismo-Acoustic Research and Operations Scientist

Ken earned his Master’s in Mathematics from Murray State University in 2004 and PhD in Geophysics from the University of Kentucky in 2009. He has accumulated research and operations experience working at the Earth Observatory of Singapore, the US National Tsunami Warning Center, and the Geophysical Institute at UAF. His research focuses on the continuity of the wavefield across the interface between the solid earth and the atmosphere, with a particular interest in air-to-ground coupled waves. On the operational side, he develops and implements algorithms for anomaly detection and performance monitoring of seismic and infrasound stations. He is a handling editor for the Diamond Open Access journal Seismica. When not thinking about data quality, he is probably climbing or dry fly fishing.
